Granger Smith Podcast Episode 70: I have seen things that my eyes should not have seen, that I can't erase. And the only thing that will give me peace from those visions that human eyes should not see is that word, that truth in that book...

There's great hope for Veteran Chad who reached out to you like a tired bird with a clipped wing in search of a tree in which to rest. I'm sure there is hope for him, because he believes that faith in God is a real thing. Which means that Chad has at least the faith of a mustard seed. You did the right thing, Granger, when you referred Chad to the bible. Kudos to you, also, for instructing him to begin with a prayer. If he follows your advice, God can grow that mustard-seed-of-faith into a giant tree. And the fact that you suggested the book of Matthew as a starting point is very interesting and possibly divinely synchronous (at least to my discernment). For in Matthew 13:31-32, it says: **Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof**

Granger you’ve been a huge inspiration to me and are a huge role model I love what you are doing with your life and that your a God fearing country boy! I’m very sorry for the loss of you son and apologize if this pains you but the good lord always has a plan and how you handled that has inspired me. This year my brother was in the verge of death with a rare sickness called misc c and had a extremely rare tumor that almost took him as well. I love what your doing and thank you for your inspiration I doubt you’ll see this but thank you for everything you do.

Your advice for girl dads is spot on. Girls get a huge amount of their self image and self respect from their dad. The girls who grow up with absent, abusive or negative dads often have a real struggle finding someone who treats her well once she grows up. You're a great dad and husband. The world needs more men that take fatherhood and marriage serious. God bless you.

Couldn't agree MORE about Wild at Heart. Speaks a LOT of truth about the standard nature of a boy. I cannot comment on captivating because I am not a girl dad - God blessed me with 2 boys and Wild at Heart has been HUGE in helping me raise them.

Granger, I'm so glad that Dutch visited your ranch and sent me over to you. I seen Matt Caraker menton you on his videos and know that Matt cares for you. I admire you because you have so much faith and you're not afraid to share it. Keep up with the encouraging words. God Bless you, I probably won't meet you on earth, but we will meet in Heaven. I was a Health and I had a school plant operator that always walked with me on the inspections and he didn't believe in saying goodbye, we always said "see you later, here, there, or in the air." God Bless you, brother and thank you for being an inspiration for the world my name is Starlene and I'm retired from public service as a school bus driver, then Health inspector for Collier County, Florida about to go on my dream adventure of taming wild Mustang and getting certified in Animal Assisted Therapy so that I can help victims of abuse. I was bullied throughout junior high and high school, molested by my adoptive father, mentally and physically abused by my ex-husband, cared for my mother the last 22 years of her life and I would not have made it without God carrying me and providing horses for me to wrap my arms around their necks and cry into their mane. While my mother was growing weaker, my son and I would put her in the wheelchair and I would bring one of the horses to her so she could feed them bread and pet them. When she got so weak that she couldn't be put in the wheelchair it was kidding season and we would bring the baby goats in and lay them beside her. She would smile and be so happy for about 10 minutes and then say, I know you have baby goats out there, so we would be going back and forth all day bringing baby goats in. The day she died, I went out on the front porch, crying and I heard God say, remember what the animals did for your mother, I want you to use your animals to help others. That will be 8 years ago on March 7th. I haven't been able to take the courses yet to become certified, but my little 10 acre ranch is under contract and hopefully will be sold in November and I will be able to get more land in an agriculture area and pay for the rest of the courses I need to get certified in Animal Assisted Therapy. I have been able to help people with the animals a few times

For Chad, I'd also suggest going to the Psalms. David was a warrior king. He was pursued by enemies for years. He was vulnerable and honest with God. He praised God in one Psalm and accused him in the next chapter, yet he was called a man after God's own heart. The Psalms are a great place to go when you don't know where God is, but know He's somewhere.

I love the advice about being a girl dad. All girls want to know that their dads cherish them, think they're beautiful and want to woo them. Girls learn from their dads how men should treat them. Teach them well by loving them well!

Seen my nieces have their heads buried in their phones while their kids were trying to get their attention. It didn't happen often, but the few times it did while I was around. I would jump on them for letting a Cellphone get in the way of their kids. I can't stand to see that stuff. At least my parents would interact. Sure it wasn't always with the actions I wanted. For instance... "What the hell do you want?, I thought I told you to stay outside" but at least it was something. I'd rather be beaten, than ignored.

Granger, you gave spot on advice to the young man who is being denied employment with law enforcement. He MUST find out the reason that he was not chosen. My son and husband are in law enforcement, and I know the things they look for. Assuming he has met all the minimum requirements (schooling, physical condition, past criminal history, etc.), he needs to know what is keeping him back. Some departments conduct panel interviews in which they will throw out scenarios and ask them how they would handle it as an officer. If they answer too aggressively, or ignore officer safety, they might consider you an unqualified candidate. Also, if they ask you how often you drink, and you answer every weekend, or several times a week, they might think that you “self medicate.” There are numerous issues that departments review in a candidate. I would also suggest that he read up on what police agencies are looking for in a candidate, and/or speak with a current officer and pick their brains. He cannot give up on his dream, but he does need to find out why he continues to not be chosen. LOVE your podcasts, and you always have the best stories! Yee Yee!

You are exactly right. It is the same in the fire service. Retired firefighter of 35 years and have been on the interview board many times. There have been young men and women that have applied more than 10 times before they get hired. Always keep trying. But also keep learning and fixing. It will come in time.
