Being in the rebar industry the last 5 year it’s interesting to me that they used PT cables in place of rebar. Here in Utah I’ve only seen PT used in parking garage decks and maybe high raises. I love seeing how different regions of the country do things just a little different then we do here in Utah.

  • Barry Nelson
    Barry Nelson

Yup! You got it! Verbage is definitely different from different parts of the country as you said. I guess footers in the beltline and north. Interesting on the same note, the tension cables in your "slab" are the same thing they use in multi story parking garages, hotels, some commercial buildings etc., for all the concrete floors. As you stated....tons of tension to hold those floors in place, suspended, while only having any support on "edges" only. Marvels of modern industry!

It is so refreshing to watch your family here on youtube. God has made you all some special people no doubt. You're being Smart and not just throwing your money away. You don't have to have all the best or most expensive things in your life. You know that by having Faith in God and Jesus you have everything already. Even in trouble times he will Bless you.

Wow thats crazy how houses are built in diff parts of the country. I was first introduced to tamales and few years ago by my brother and sister in law. I have to say I am in love with them. They are so good. I love Mexican food anyway. Stay safe. Love yous .

  • AngelEyez583

HAHA i know the engineering company that designed that foundation plan. the engineer doesn't even check it himself it's just an electronic seal (us designers do all the work)🤣🤣 his explanation of why post tension is better than rebar alone is a little subjective. post tension cables help the best based on what type of soil you're sitting on. if you're sitting on clay than the cables are definitely helpful.

  • Mary Smyczynski

So....y’all will never have any cracks in the slab??? I have a lot of respect for those Mexican (Latino) workers. Many US citizens have negative words to say about those guys, but until you’ve worked around one you have no idea what their work ethic is. I had a Forestry Service for many years and I used Mexican workers for our hand tree planting jobs. I believe in working hard but strapping 1000 seedlings on your back and swinging a hoedad or using a dibble bar ALL day is just not something I would really want to do. They always brought their lunch, built a fire and warmed or cooked it basically on the hot ashes. I was just amazed the first time I saw them do that. Btw; in the south of Louisiana we call them “footers”. Happy Days!
